MagikaVRx is an Immersive Media company.   We believe in the power of Virtual Reality (VR) to positively transform the patient experience.  Teri Yarbrow, the founder and President, is a self-proclaimed VR Evangelist and is passionate about all aspects of VR and Immersive Therapy.

Yarbrow is an Emmy, BDA and Promax award winning producer and creative director who created Magika, a successful digital media company in LA. She has a long resume of work with leading entertainment companies, including:  Warner Brothers, Disney, Walt Disney Imagineering, Sony, NBC, ABC, CBS, HBO, FOX, PBS, MGM, Virgin, Paramount and many more.

In 2016, with a career move to Savannah, Yarbrow became increasingly passionate about immersive media and particularly the amazing results of using VR therapy for relieving pain, anxiety, depression and enhancing quality of life.  As a professor at Savannah College of Art and Design, she assisted in the creation of a new Immersive Reality ARVR program and spearheaded “VR for Good”, working with students to create VR projects with Hospice Savannah and the Steward Center for Palliative Care.

MagikaVRx was born as Yarbrow experienced the amazing power of immersive VR therapy. She gathered invaluable experience working with individual patients and developing programs with hospice and palliative care.  She is now working with healthcare partners to develop further programs and to create research oriented prescriptive VR experiences for use with individual patients and in healthcare facilities.

Creating AWE is her new project, joining forces with Max Almy, former Dean of Creative Technology and Digital Media at SCAD and Dr. Kathleen Benton, President and CEO of Hospice Savannah and Stewart Center for Palliative Care. Creating AWE is immersive VR therapy based on new neuroscientific research that has documented the powerful transformative effects of awe and VR has proven to be extremely effective at inducing it.

Yarbrow is co-author of “VR Therapy for the Seriously Ill” with Dr. Benton. She is a founding member of AMXRA, the American Medical Extended Reality Assoc. She has been a featured speaker at “vMed” at Cedar Sinai in LA, at Immersive Tech Week in Rotterdam, and is speaking at “AWE” in Long Beach. She is proud to have won a “Telly” for Social Impact and nominated for the Social Impact Award at the VR Awards, the leading international VR awards event.
